Why would I need a tooth extracted? 

If a tooth becomes too damaged to save with a filling, crown, or root canal. Some possible causes for this are large cavities, infection, fracture of the tooth, infection, advanced gum disease, or impaction. 

Does it hurt to have a tooth pulled? 

No, we will do everything possible to completely numb the area prior to extracting the tooth. This includes local anesthesia and possibly laughing gas to help minimize pain and discomfort. Following the appointment, you might have mild to moderate soreness which is almost always managed with ibuprofen and tylenol. 

What can I eat after a tooth extraction? 

We recommend cool, soft foods such as yogurt, cottage cheese, and mashed potatoes. Avoid hot, hard, crunchy foods for the first several days following a tooth extraction.
