With proper care, crowns and bridges can last well over 10 years. We frequently see patients with crowns and bridges that have lasted over 30 years. It is very important to brush twice per day, floss regularly, and avoid sticky foods to maximize the lifespan of a crown or bridge. 

How do I care for my crowns and bridges? 

A crown can be maintained just like any other tooth. We recommend brushing twice per day and flossing daily. A bridge requires more specialized care. For bridges we recommend using a special type of floss often called “Superfloss” or “Floss Threaders” to clean underneath the replacement tooth of the bridge.
