Importance of Dental X-rays

Routine dental X-rays are very important in helping detect problems in the oral cavity. Whether it’s early detection of cavities, infection, or even cancer, X-rays allow our team at Flossen Family Dental the opportunity for accurate and effective diagnosis. We recommend routine bitewing X-rays every 12 months and a panoramic radiograph every 3-5 years, or as needed.

Are Dental X-rays safe? 

Yes, especially with modern equipment such as digital X-ray sensors and the NOMAD handheld device. Additionally, Dr. Byman and Dr. Riley follow the ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) principle to minimize exposure. Although it is no longer recommended, we still offer lead aprons and thyroid collars if you feel more comfortable wearing them while having the necessary radiographs taken.
