What steps are involved in dental implants? 

The first step is a comprehensive exam and discussing your goals. The comprehensive exam includes taking a close look at your teeth, gums, and bone support. To help with this exam process, we will likely take a 3D CBCT image to help determine if any additional procedures such as bone grafting need to be done prior to implant placement. Next, a small titanium implant is placed into the jawbone and left for 2-3 months to integrate and lock into the surrounding bone. Once fully integrated into the bone, the implant is ready to have a crown attached onto the implant. This entire process can take anywhere from 3 to 7 months depending on many factors.
